Illinois is in the grips of a heat wave this week. Heat is the #1 weather-related killer in the US, and more than 310,000 Illinoisans are vulnerable to extreme heat. Being able to stay cool in your home is essential, but Ameren customers will be burdened with higher than normal electric bills starting in June.

As people of faith and justice, we also need to work on systemic policy change to accelerate the transition to clean energy, make our grid more resilient, and widen the availability of utility energy efficiency programs.
